Annaleigh Ashoford will perform this weekend at Bay Area Cabaret in San Francisco!
With a gift and a passion for cabaret (along with a sly sense of humor), versatile Tony-nominated Broadway and television star Annaleigh Ashford will make her West Coast cabaret debut with Bay Area Cabaret. Currently starring as Betty Dimelo in the hit Showtime series, The Masters Of Sex, Annaleigh originated the role of Lauren in Harvey Fierstein and Cyndi Lauper's Tony winning musical, Kinky Boots, receiving Tony Award and Drama Desk Award nominations for Best Featured Actress in a Musical and rave reviews across the board, with Variety calling her "sizzling and sensational." Ashford made her Broadway debut in 2006, when she originated the role of Margot in Legally Blonde: The Musical, and one year later she starred as Glinda in the Broadway production of Wicked. Other appearances include Broadway's Grease and Rent and the films Sex and The City: The Movie and Rachel Getting Married.
In the fall of 2014, Annaleigh returned to Broadway to co-star with James Earl Jones in the first bi-racial revival of You Can't Take It With You, with critics noting Ms. Ashford as the break-out star of the production, and the NY Times naming her "a sly comic genius." Her recent cabaret shows at New York's 54 Below have had the critics raving again, with the NY Times giving her an unprecedented two reviews and calling Annaleigh Ashford "the most promising rising star" of the year!
Lost in the Stars features the haunting melodies of Kurt Weil and Stephen Sondheim, songs in honor of the Venetian Room's rich musical history and even a surprise number or two from the days of disco. With story and song, the evening will have a touch of fun with a whole lot of heart.
